2021: A LOOK BACK

For many of us, it’s that time of the year when thoughts and celebrations turn towards the holiday season. Festive music runs through our ears, holiday plans are made & we start to reflect on the last year.

We’re still living in a pandemic world, but we’re still so inspired by the resilience shown by both the travel & sporting industries.

After Covid-19 ripped up the 2020 sporting calendar, 2021 saw Sport 24 have its busiest year, with 5,500 hours of LIVE sport broadcast across Sport 24 & Sport 24 Extra“ a 7.7% increase on 2019’s numbers! TOM BRADY  steered the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a comfortable victory, to extend his own record of Super Bowl wins to 7!

May saw an all-English UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL , with Chelsea clinching their second Champions League title against Manchester City.

England’s bid to end their 55-year wait for a major trophy ended in a nail-biting penalty shootout as Italy claimed the UEFA EURO 2020 crown at Wembley.

The OLYMPIC GAMES TOKYO 2020 went ahead, and witnessed the rise of the young athletes; from Kokona Hiraki (aged 12), Sky Brown (13), Rayssa Leal (13) & Quan Hongchan (14)¦ all adding to their countries medal count’s in Tokyo.

Team USA won the 2021  RYDER CUP with a record victory margin at Whistling Straits.

CHRISTIANO RONALDO returned to Manchester United after 12 years!

NOVAK DJOKOVIC made history by clinching his record seventh year-end No.1 spot, eclipsing Pete Sampras’ record. Djokovic came within one victory of completing the Grand Slam in 2021, with wins at the Australian Open, Roland Garros & Wimbledon.

Barcelona crashed out of the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGES for the first time in over 20 years with a 3-0 defeat against Bayern Munich!
